Water Based Coupling Gel
UCA-2 is a water soluble ultrasonic coupling gel containing organic corrosion inhibitors and thickening agents. UCA-2 has significant thixotropic properties ensuring the gel stays in position when applied without dripping. This combined with the UCA-2’s excellent acoustic transition and wetting properties means that ultrasonic probes can freely move across both smooth and rough surfaces while maintaining strong coupling.
UCA-2 is relatively non-corrosive being in the neutral range (pH 7.5 to 8.5) and the presence of special organic corrosion inhibitors ensures that it will not corrode most metals. The product is low in sulphur and halogens and essentially ash free on ignition.
UCA-2 contains no hydrocarbons or aggressive solvents and is therefore unlikely to react with painted surfaces, plastics, synthetic or natural rubbers.
UCA-2 contains no known toxic ingredient and the effect on skin is negligible. The presence of surface active agents could exert a slight defatting effect on persistent or prolonged contact; This may be avoided by the application of a barrier cream or the use of gloves.
